The movie, of course, like most Julia Roberts is brilliant. You find at your disposal an excellent set of quotes as instant replies for people who are adamant that they know best how you should lead your life. But what makes the movie a must watch is the the philosophy that is the core message of the movie. Eat. Pray. Love. And above all Love yourself.
Eat! You cannot be in the pizza capital of the world and not eat the most delicious pizza ever made because you are afraid of gaining weight! Or something like that.. Would you want to be the person at a party who has never tasted anything delicious? The trick is to taste it! Let the beautiful flavours playing on your tongue drive you senseless with every bite. You don’t need delicious food if you want to stuff your mouth, you can use dirt. It accomplishes similar result.
Pray! To not think at all is better than thoughts which tell you that you are the scum of the earth and the pus which worms feed upon. Even when you are, God loves you, and when you turn to him you can transform yourself into whatever you want to be. Much like the woman in the movie/book went from being a haggard old woman to a youthful young girl.
Love! For a life without love is no life at all! But “balance, my darling, is not letting anybody love you less than you love yourself”. The test you must pass is knowing before you look find find Love, you have to surrender all hatred, helplessness and despair.
Isn’t it Awesome to eat, pray, and love?
